Taken from Handel’s opera Judas Maccabaeus, this arrangement starts with a slow introduction followed by the main melody. With a pitch range only between B2 and E4, this work allows the soloist to focus on expression with correct articulations. Towards the end of the solo, the performer is to play dotted-eighth/sixteenth notes over the length of three measures. Be sure to maintain tempo and counting through this passage. It will be important to check the appropriate organization’s solo requirements as this work can be found by different arrangers and different key signatures.
