Class and Grade Levels by Organization

Each organization selected for this project uses a different classification system for its list of solos. Below is a list of each organization and how they rank their level(s) of difficulty.

Florida (FMEA): Grade 1 (easy) to 6 (hard)
Indiana (ISSMA): No Level, Class, or Grade. Solos will be marked with a “Yes” or “NL.”
New York (NYSSMA): Grade 1 (easy) to 6 (hard)
Ohio (OMEA): Class A (easy) to C (hard)
Pennsylvania (PMEA): Level 1 (easy) to 6 (hard)
Solos for the Student Trombonist (ITA): Grade 1 (easy) to 6 (college)
Texas (UIL): Grade 1 (hard) to 3 (easy)
NOT LISTED (NL): Solo was not listed on the organization’s list
