Intermediate Bach for Trombone is a collection of 9 short pieces that could individually stand on their own as independent solos. This collection has a wide variety of slow and fast movements with a wide range in pitch and fast tempo. Several movements are quite challenging, such as the “Bourree” where there is more than an octave between pitches on several occasions. Other movements, such as “Allegro Moderato,” have long strands of eighths notes with the half notes receiving the primary beat. Tempos are marked for each movement, and the soloist needs to be cautious in not picking a movement that is too difficult.
