Taken from Handel’s opera, Samson, this aria presents a challenge in keeping a consistent, quick tempo for the soloist. The trickiest rhythms will be the eighth-note/two-sixteenth-note patterns that are frequently played. Range will not be an issue as the solo is written in the middle register of the instrument. Several themes are presented, and the soloist will want to emphasize the differences in each motif while trying to play those themes with different expressions to not sound repetitive. Pay attention to the musical roadmap as the end of the second page is not the final measure of the solo.
