While each movement of Ostransky’s Concertino is relatively short, complex intervals and quick rhythms fill each movement. The first movement will push the soloist to exaggerate dynamic markings while also playing notes in the 6th and 7th partials that can be troublesome for intermediate soloists. The second movement is a slow lyrical movement that contains higher notes sustained at louder volumes. With the final movement marked at 116 bpm, the soloist will continue to lay sustained notes at loud, high volumes which will test the performer’s stamina for a successful performance.
